The Cheney Knights won Promotion to the Premier League at the First time of asking have got promoted to Division ‘A’ only last Year on a dark but pleasant Night in Glenfield. The Knights needed 13 points overall to win promotion on the Night and a 3-1 or 4-0 win or a favourable 2-2 draw with a big swing to win the league while the Buffers needed at least a draw to stay in Division ‘A’ in this re-arranged match after 3 Cheney Knights players were involved in a serious car crash earlier in the season so a lot was at stake.Captain Sam was playing with His normal 2 of Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and the Buffers were First out of the blocks going 2-0 up but the Gaddesby team fought back although the Buffers always seemed a step ahead and at 1 point the Knights target of 13 points seemed a tall order but then the Knights started playing and took a 11-6 lead before Sam put 2 boule in to make the Premier league dreamland a reality.Over on the other Piste Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was also with His normal 2 of Kev Baker and Joe Steele and they did not get off to the best of starts and found themselves 10-0 down and although the Knights fought back it was too little too late as the Glenfield team won 13-7,So with the score at Half Time 1-1 and with relegation and Titles still on the line it really was very much all to play for.
In the Second set of Games Sams team could not get any luck and rightfully went down 13-2 against the stronger of the 2 Buffers sides so that decided both teams destiny’s with the Buffers guaranteed to stay up,Over on Richard game it was a tighter affair and both teams kept level with each other until it was 6-6 and the Knights started to pull away and won their game 13-8 with a good strong finish,So the final score was 2-2,40-35.
Captain Sam said Afterwards ‘It has been a long and hard Season but I have to say that We were not overawed by the step up to Division ‘A’ at all and it shows that We are going in the right direction in the fact that it was only 2012 that We were in Division ‘C’ and now We are in the Premier League,I also think a big key to our success is the fact that We have turned the Cheney into a fortress having not lost a League game at Home since September 5th 2014.It does seem like a good Year to go back as it is 10 Years since We were last in the Premier league as well as Myself and Kev celebrating 20 Years since We First started playing.I would like to thank My Vice-Captain Richard Wesson who is always a good sounding board and looks after the other team superbly and to the other players as well as People like Peck,Vic and Anthony who have played when needed and not let the standards drop at all,I would lastly like to say that the Premier League is a lot harder than Division ‘A’ and the hard work will start here but I do think that We are up to it,One things for sure the Cheney Knights have a bright future’.

The Cheney Knights edged nearer promotion to the Premier League wonderland with only One game to go on a dark but humid and hot Night in Thrussington.Capain Sam Burdett was playing with His normal 2 of Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and They were up against it from the start going 7-0 down in the First few ends but They soon pulled it back to 7-5 but then the Lions went further ahead and just kept going until they won 13-8,Over on the other piste Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was playing with Kev Baker and Rob Woods and they got off to a really good start going 7-3 up thanks in part to some great play by Richard and the Dream was back on as the Knights prevailed 13-5 so at Half Time at 1-1 with One team in a relegation fight and One in a promotion fight it really was all to play for.In the Second set of Games Sams team powered ahead with all 3 players putting in a good shift until the Thrussington team started to claw their way back as they got a 4 on One end and with the game sitting at 11-10 to the Knights Ryan put on 2 Boule to give the Gaddesby team a much needed victory 13-10,Over on Richards game The Knights were not so lucky as the Lions game back from behind and getting 4 themselves on the last end to win 13-10,So the final score was 2-2,41-45.
Captain Sam said afterwards that this was a good result against a Team that although were bottom could have gone up themselves before the game started showing how tight this Division is,He also said that the Knights know what they need as they are the only game next Week get 1 point and promotion is secured and get 3 and they have won the title,He lastly added that The team has made themselves hard to beat this Year and got the points when needed now His team need to show they have the stomach for what is ultimately the business end of the season.

The Cheney Knights got a very important win after more than a Month of playing after car crashes,Re-arranged fixtures,Cup Semi Finals,Byes and Free Weeks to really put the pressure on the top teams on a glorious Night in Gaddesby. Captain Sam Burdett was playing with His normal 2 of Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and they never looked like losing getting some big scoring ends and only dropping 1 point to Thrash the Forgers 13-1 in a very One sided game,Over on the other Piste Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was playing with His normal 2 as well of Kev Baker and Joe Steele and theirs was a much tighter affair with in being close all the way up to the Knights getting 9 before the Glenfield Team took the last few ends winning 13-9,So at Half Time it was 1-1 and for both sides all to play for.In the Second set of Games The Forgers bought 2 substitutes on as agreed before the game and Sams team went 4-0 down in the First 2 ends against the stronger of the Forgers sides before the Gaddesby team pulled the magic out of the bag and again only dropping One more point to win the game 13-5,Richards game started off tight with The Forgers taking the lead early on but the Knights showed their class and came back to win the game 13-6,So the final score was 3-1,48-25.
Captain Sam said afterwards that although the knights had not played for so long they have been chomping at the bit to play and that really showed in this game,He also said that the unbeaten run at Home in the League which stretches back to September 5th 2014 will now stretch to the 2017 season as this was the Knights last Home game of this campaign,He lastly added that Things are looking good for the Knights in the league so for the last 2 games they have just got to play every shot as if its their last if they want success from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights ended up with a hard fought draw against a team that did not include One player that played in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season on a windy Knight in Gaddesby.Captain Sam Burdett was back with His normal 2 of Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and they did not get off starts going behind right from the off but they clawed their way back thanks in part to some good pointing from Ryan and with the game at 11-7 and the Nags on Sam pulled up Dave’s along with His own for a 13-7 victory,Over on the other Piste Vice Captain Richard Wesson was back from a 2 Week holiday and He was back with His normal 2 of Kev Baker and Joe Steele and they got off to a great start with 2 3’s on the First Two ends therefore going 6-0 up and that’s where it all went wrong with the Glenfield team only dropping One more point and beating the Knights 13-7,So at Half Time the scores were 1-1 and all was to play for.In the Second set of games Sams team were always 1 step behind the Nags and although they did pull in back and were just 1 point behind the Nags won the game 13-8,Richards team were much improved from the first game and thrashed the opposition 13-4 with all Three players playing much better so the final score was 2-2,41-37.
Captain Sam said after the game that if the Knight are to get promoted then games like this one at Home should be won even though it was a totally different and better team than the One that played in the corresponding fixture back in May,He also said that People really do need to take the Week off the Knights have next Week and recharge their batteries before coming back full of positive thinking,He lastly said that the Knights have 12 points left to play for and need to get as many of them as they can by buckling down from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights crashed out of the Cup at the Quarter final stage at Home against a team a Division below them on a dry Night in Gaddesby.Captain Sam Burdett was playing with Dave Whait and Joe Steele and it was not a good peformance at all with Sam having to ‘Put One in there’ on a lot of ends to either cut the Grooms points down or get One on which was just putting off the inevitable win for the Charmers as they took the game 13-6,Over on The other side acting Vice-Captain Kev Baker was covering for Richard Wesson and although they did make hard work of it they did narrowly win 13-12 in a very close game so at half Time it was 1-1 and again You would have thought all to play for.In the Second set of Games Sam called for an improved performance but sadly this just was not the case as the Queniborough team won 13-7.Over on the other Piste the Knights did get there even though it was close for the First few ends with the Gaddesby team winning 13-7 but the Knights going out of the Cup on points with the final score being 2-2,39-45.
Captain Sam said afterwards that for the Second Week running this was just not good enough at all,He said that His own team should have won both of their games and much improvement is needed, before lastly adding that the Division ‘B’ team did well but his own Team have 4 games left and are still in the mix but need to get maximum points from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights suffered their Second defeat of the season to be knocked off their perch at the top of the table on a baking night in Rothley.Captain Sam Burdett was playing with Dave Whait and Joe Steele and it was tight fro the start with Two boules unable to be split on the very First end but then the Knights fell quite far behind before they got some quite big scores thanks to some great shooting and general play from Sam who put the winning Boule on in the last end to follow Dave’s shot for a 13-10 win,Over on the Other side acting Vice-Captain Kev Baker was with Ryan Shaw and Robert Woods and it was just not their Night with the Gaddesby team never looking like winning and a 13-5 win was had by the Woodies so at Half Time it was 1-1 and maybe You would have thought all was to play for.In the Second set of games Sams team just kept losing small scoring ends and although they got to 5 in a little run of ends there was only going to be One winner as the Woodies took the game 13-5,In Kev’s game the Knights never got out of gear at all and although there was some very dubious calls from the Rothley team the Knights were just not at the races as the Woodies thrashed the Knights 13-3 so the final score was 3-1,49-26.
Captain Sam said afterwards that this was just not good enough at all He also said that was the Woodies who were just behind the Knights before the Game so this really is a bad result with the Woodies now 1 point above the Knights with only 4 games left,He lastly added that every single point is very important from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights got the 4-0 they have been craving for to go to the top of Division ‘A’ in a very One sided match on a pleasant evening in Gaddesby.
Captain Sam Burdett was again playing with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and their game could not have gone better as they got a 5 on the First end,A 6 in the Second end,Then a dead end happened to only delay the Cheney wrapping the game up in the following end 13-0 with the game taking under 10 Minutes and the Crowns never standing a chance,Over on the other piste Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was again joined by Kev Baker and Joe Steele who for the First Time this Season did not have a Night shift at Asda straight after the game and they just trickled along nicely with the Hathern team not getting a point until the Knights got to 8 then the Cheney showed their class with Joe on great form as He was all Night as the Gaddesby team took it 13-4,so a great First half for the Cheney and from the Knights point of view 2-0 up and all to play for.
In the Second set of games Sams Team went 5-1 down but soon got back into their rhythm after along Time of standing around and they cruised to a 13-8 victory with all 3 players on great form,Richards Team had the same sort of game as the form spilled over from the First game and they just kept chipping away until they reached their destination with the Gaddesby Team winning 13-7,So the Final score was 4-0,52-19.
Captain Sam said afterwards ” I am absolutely delighted to finally get the 4-0 we have been craving all Season especially as it was against the only Team to beat the Knight all season. You only get games like His own Teams First game every Blue moon but when they do come they are brilliant”. Before adding “All six Players were on good form in this Match and that kind of form or even better needs to continue from now until the end of the season”.

The Cheney Knights shared the points in a very tight game against a very good Blue Lion ‘C’ Team on a warm and pleasant Night in Gaddesby.
Captain Sam Burdett was with His usual 2 of Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and they did not get off to the best of starts going 7-1 down in the first few ends and although they did pull it back a bit the Lions were pointing very well and took the game 13-8,Over on the other Piste Vice-Captain was again with Kev Baker and Joe Steele and their game was tight all the way through until the Gaddesby team pulled it out of the bag at the death winning 13-11,so again it was 1-1 at half Time and all to play for.
In the Second set of games Sam’s team had another bad start going 5-0 down but Sam’s team did what they seem to do a lot and clawed their way back into it and did not drop another point winning the game 13-5,Richards team had a very different game taking a healthy 12-5 lead before the Thrussington team got 8 in Two ends and coming from nowhere to win 13-12 in a bizarre game and turn of events meaning the final score was 2-2,46-42.
Captain Sam said afterwards “This was a hard game from the Team who were the last Team to beat the Knights at Home in the League way back on September 5th 2014 so to keep that record is a good thing”. He added “The Season is now at the Halfway point so nobody has games in hand so You can see exactly where things are and The Cheney are very much in the mix. The Division is that tight that every team is in a relegation and promotion fight and games need winning from now until the end of the season”.

The Cheney Knights showed England Football Team how to do it by progressing through to the Quarter Finals of The Cup on a surprisingly dry Night in Gaddesby,.
Captain Sam Burdett was again partnered with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and although nobody got more than 1 point until it got to 4-4 the Knights got a 5 and there was no turning back as the Gaddesby team won the game 13-4,Over on the other Piste Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was Himself again partnered with Kev Baker and Joe Steele and they just did not have the luck with them as it was a close match all the way to the end with The Grimston team just edging it 13-11 so at half Time it was 1-1 and as a Cup Match it really was all to play for.
In the Second set of Games Sam’s Team was involved in an amazing game as the Horses took a Massive 11-1 lead and with Richards Team in a tight game at the Time it really was a Time for willpower and guts as The Gaddesby Team clawed their way back to win the Game 13-11 in a stunning comeback,Richards Team did much the same as Sams Team had done in the First game and had a tight First few ends before showing enough class to pull away and win the game 13-6,So the final score was 3-1,50-34.
Captain Sam said after the Game “This was a hard Match against a Division ‘E’ side who should be very proud of themselves. He added that His own Teams fightback from 11-1 down to win showed steady nerves as well as some great Pertanque which to never give up until that peg goes into that final hole,
“It is great that the Knights are in the Quarter Finals of the Cup but it is Time to put that in a box for a few Weeks and get back to the league and concentrate on that as the league is so tight and each point is so valuable from now right up until the end of the season” he summed up.

The Cheney Knights ground out a very closely and hard fought draw on a hot and sweaty Night in Glenfield.
Captain Sam Burdett was again partnered with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and they got off to a terrible start going 10-0 down. Then the Knights got a 2 and then a 5 and looked to be getting back into it until The Forgers got 3 on the last end to win the game 13-7.
Over on the other Piste Vice Captain Richard Wesson was with Kev Baker and Joe Steele for the Fourth Week in a row and their game went a lot more to plan winning the Game 13-4 with breathing space and some very good play from Kev Baker in perticular so at Half time it was 1-1 and all again to play for.
In the second set of games Sams team took a very healthy 6-0 lead before the Forgers got a 1 and then a 5 to pull it to 6-6 before the Gaddesby team dug away with small winning ends until it got to 12-9. Ryan then pointed a cracker which the Glenfield team just could not beat so a 13-9 win was had.
Over on the other Game Richard went 8-2 down before getting a 5 and confidence grew in the Knights before The Forgers won the game 13-11 in a very unlucky game for the Knights. So the final score was 2-2 or 39-44.
Captain Sam said after the game “it was was not a bad result at all against a very good side away from home. With 2 points seperating the whole Division it really is a time to stand and be counted”. He added that the Knights get break from the League in the Cup next Week but they will keep their foot to the throttle from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights got a very important win against very stiff competition on a surprisingly dry night in Gaddesby. Captain Sam Burdett was again partnered with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and although they went 2-0 down on the First end the Gaddesby team soon changed gear and did not let the Buffers get another point winning the game 13-2. Over on the other piste Vice Captain Richard Wesson was partnered with Kev Baker and Joe Steele and but for some great pointing from Joe all night after a close first few ends the Railway took it 13-9,so 1-1 and all to play for.
In the second set of games Sam’s team were involved in a Titanic battle and all three of his team were on the boules against the better of the two Glenfield teams and they were victorious winning 13-7. Over on Richard’s game it was a walkover with the Knights winning 13-5 so the final score was 3-1 or 48-27.
Captain Sam said after the game “This was a very important win as Division ‘A’ is a very tight Division and points anywhere are a good thing. It is good that the Knights are in positive points difference now as it could go down to the wire. I am happy that the team is now more settled and it is now time for us to get our heads down and win as many as possible until the end of the season”.

The Cheney Knights powered their way into the Second round of the Cup with relative ease in a game where the weather wasn’t the only thing that was hot on a scorching Night in Syston.Captain Sam Burdett was again playing with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and as with every game on the Night it was only going to go One way as the Knight took a 5-0 lead in the First few ends and never looked back winning the game 13-4,Over on the other side Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was himself again with Kev Baker and Joe Steele who again was starting a Night Shift at 10pm at Thurmaston in Asda in Thurmaston and although this game was in Syston Joe went back to Gaddesby as the game finished so soon after it started and the 3 of them thrashed The Inbequeeners 13-1,so at Half time int was 2-0 and because the Syston team only got 5 points between them all the Knights needed was 6 points between them in the next set of games for the win.
In the second set of Games Sams Team won 13-0 simple as that with some good play from the Gaddesby team and with the game at 7-0 Sam took 2 boule with One shot leaving His there before rolling up his second to take 6 and the all important 13-0 win was sealed,Richards game was much the same with another 13-4 thrashing with some great play from Joe,so the final score was 4-0,52-9.Captain Sam said after the game that with The inbequeeners being 3 Divisions below them the Knights always should win but the way His team were relentless should good character,He also added that League games will not be this easy as it is a higher standard before lastly saying that this was a good game for confidence as a 4-0 win always is and a few will be needed this season.

The Cheney Knights got a draw in a closely fought game on a Piste which heavily leaned One way on a cold but at least dry Night in Glenfield.
Captain Sam Burdett was again partnered with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and they got off to a bad start going 7-0 down but they did manage to pull back some points bringing the game back to 10-8 before the Nags Head took the game 13-8,Over on the other side Vice-Captain Richard Wesson was partnered with Kev Baker and Joe Steele who had been draughted in at the last moment and had to be at Thurmaston Asda at 10pm to start a Night Shift and their game was close through-out,the Knights however showed their class winning the game 13-10 so 1-1 at half time and all to play for.In the second set of games Sams Team took a healthy lead and were the only team who were ever going to win this One and The Gaddesby team just kept going until a 13-4 win ensured at least a draw was on the cards,Richards team found it hard against the stronger of the Two triples as Sams team had done and although it looked like a Knights comeback might happen The Glenfield team won the game 13-8,So the final score was 2-2,42-40.
Captain Sam said afterwards that a 2-2 draw on a Piste they have never played on was not a bad result but a win would have obviously been better,He also said that having had a win along with a draw and a loss did show lack of consistency and that Draws and losses need turning into wins,He lastly added that the games coming up are important games as The knights have a Bye next Week and the upcoming games will have a big say in what sought of a fight they are in this season.

The Cheney Knights got their First League win of the season under their belts in a very close game on another very wet Night in Gaddesby.Captain Sam Burdett was this Week partnered with Dave Whait and Ryan Shaw and their game was very close until the game got to 6-6 and the Knights didn’t get another point allowing the Woodies to go on and win 13-6,Vice Captain Richard Wesson was back over on the other side and He was playing with Kev Baker and Anthony Carter and their game was a close affair all the way through before the Cheney got the run of the piste which has to be said was in terrible condition to win 13-12 so at Half Time the scores were 1-1 and this game was very much all to play for.In the second set of games Sam’s game was a slow starter until the Gaddesby team got a 5 on one end and the just kept chipping away until they had won the game 13-9 so at least a draw but hopefully a win was on the cards,Over on the other side the Rothley team took a healthy lead and with the game at 12-8 the Knights came from nowhere to get a 5 and win the game 13-12 so the final score was 3-1,45-46.
Captain Sam said afterwards that this was a very important win for His Team and said although the Piste was a lottery the Knights got the points that mattered,He added that it is not very often that the opposition have the superior points difference when You win the game but that’s Petanque and winning the game was the important thing,He finally said that now the Knights have their First win they need to keep winning as many games as possible from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights went into the First Round of the Cup as opposed to the plate in a easily won game against a team 4 Divisions below them on a wet Night in Gaddesby.Captain Sam was playing with Vice-Captain Richard and also Ryan Shaw and although the Lions had a few good ends early on it became quite obvious who was going to win as the Knights cruised to a 13-8 victory,Over on the other side Vice-Vice Captain Kev Baker was playing with Dave Whait and Rob Woods and they won in even quicker time thrashing the Thrussington team 13-4.In the Second set of games Sams Team made quick work of their game after some more superb pointing by Ryan Shaw to win 13-5 so the game was won although as soon as the two Cheney teams had got 13 points between them in the second set of games the tie was a formality as the Blue Lion could not get enough points to win it,Kev’s side were involved in a closer game and the Lions won a consolation game coming back from 12-9 to win it 13-12 so the final score was 3-1,51-30.
Captain Sam said afterwards that getting a First win of the new campaign was very important even if it was in the cup,He also said He was again impressed with Ryan’s pointing before adding that the Gaddesby team now need to play their cup form in the league and knuckle down for the rest of the season.

The Cheney Knights did not get off to the best of starts with a 3-1 loss against the Three Crowns ‘C’ on a pleasant Evening in Hathern,Captain Sam Burdett was playing with Vice Captain Richard Wesson and also Ryan Shaw and they got out the blocks fast with some great pointing from Ryan to power ahead and in the blink of an eye they took the game 13-5,Over on the other side new Vice-Vice Captain Kev Baker was with Dave Whait and Victor Smart and it did not go well from the off and just got worse as the Gaddesby Team went down 13-4,In the Second set of games although it was close for a few ends once Sam moved the coch by accident to leave the Hathern Team 3 on there was only One way the Game was going as the Knights went down 13-5 although it has to be said Sams shooting was spot on and did not miss One all Night,Kev’s Team went 12-0 down and but for a late fightback to get to 6 the Three Crowns took the game 13-6 making it 3-1,44-28 and a long trip back to Gaddesby.
Captain Sam said after the game that His own teams First game was the One highlight on a disappointing Night and now the Knights are in a higher Division the players including Himself need to raise their games,He also said that Ryan’s pointing in the First game was first rate,Before adding that they need to put this game behind them pull up their socks and concentrate for the rest of the season.
