The Cheney Knights finished the Season in a fun and humorous game in what was a formality for both Teams with the Cheney already safe and the Grooms already relagated.Captain Sam Burdett who was playing with Ryan Shaw and Dave Whait went 6-0 behind early on before coming back into the game pulling it back to 6-5 it stayed close until the Rearsby Team ended up 13-10 winners.Over on the other game it was a close affair as well with Vice Captain Richard Wesson and his Two of Kev Baker and Cash Chapman staying close until it got to the eight mark when The Grooms came out 13-8 winners. In the Second set of games Sams Team upped their Tempo against the stronger of the Two Teams and played some great Petanque and never really looked like losing coming out 13-7 Winners.Richards game was played in great spirits although the Grooms took the Game 13-9 a good Night was had by all.Captain Sam said after the game that if the game had meant anything he is sure it would have been played in a different way but after a hardly fought season it is nice just to relax and enjoy the game,he also said he was proud his Team had kept their Division ‘B’ Status,Sam said ‘It has been a long hard Season with all sorts of twists and turns and you have to remember we are new to this Divsion and when we won Division ‘C’ in 2009 we went straight back down the following Season, this Time we have stayed up and built a foundation to kick on and improve in the future’.

The Cheney Knights had a very mixed Night on a evening where if the League Tables are all up to date and correct means the Cheney will stay in Division B for another season.Captain Sam Burdett who was playing with Ryan Shaw and Tristan Hooper started off well enough going 4-0 up on the First end before crumbling 13-8 after a good 6 from the Ringers,no such trouble on the other side as Vice Captain Richard Wesson who was playing with his normal 2 of Kev Baker and Cash Chapman powered to a 13-1 Victory. In the Second set of games Sams Team took quite a big lead going ahead 11-6 which shoould have really meant the end for the Hoby Team but somehow they came back even getting 4 on the last end to lose 13-11,on the other side although Richards Team found it a bit harder and it was even til both Teams got to 8 the Result was never in doubt as they won thier leg 13-8.Captain Sam said after the game he was disappointed in his own 3 but did say how well Richards Team played on the last home game of the season. He added that he will be happy to stay up this season in what can only be described as a strange one.

The Cheney Knights Suffered a 3-1 defeat when at this Time of the Season what they really wanted was a win.In the First set of games Captain Sam Burdett who was playing with Ryan Shaw and Tristan Hooper got off to a terrible start going 11-0 down and made a great come back and confidence was growing with each end that was played but they knew as soon as they lost One end that was it and thats exactly what happend as the went down 13-11,Vice Captain Richard Wesson who was playing with Kev Baker and Cash Chapman went down 4-0 in the First end but did pull it back, with the scores at 9-7 to the Hathern Team thing were looking even but the Knights went down 13-10.In the second set of games the rain came but the games carried on as Sams Team went down 13-7 in a hard fought match that was quite even for a while.Richards Team Went 11-0 up but then the Crowns came back and with the scores at 11-10 to the Gaddesby team, victory was a relief for the Knights.Captain Sam Said after the game that this was not a good result and although at the start of the game the Cheney were 3 points off promotion and 5 off relegation, this Result has done them no favours at all.The Knights do have a Week off next Week but practise is a nessesity between now and the last game Home game of the season.

The Cheney Knights fought out a hard draw in a match where they needed to concentrate on Petanque instead of Drama as happened the Week before.Captain Sam Burdett who was playing with Ryan Shaw and Tristan Hooper who was playing his First game of the Season and who was part of the League winning Team of 2012 started his game brilliantly taking a massive 12-0 lead, any thoughts of Tristan being rusty were soon put to bed as the Knights seemed to be cruising to victory,as is always said in Petanque;the last point is always the hardest to get.this was proving right as the Blue Lion ‘C’ fought their way back to 12-12 but in a very last tense end the Cheney just snuck it even after a very unlucky shot from the Lions.Over on the other Piste Acting Captain Kev Baker was playing with Dave Whait and Cash Chapman and in a tight close game the Blue Lion ‘C’ took that game 13-10.In the second set of games Sams team let the Blue Lion team go 12-1 up before fighting back to gget to 7 before going down 13-7.Kevs team in quite a close game for a lot of it played some good Petanque with Kev himself pulling out some great shots took their game 13-6.Captain Sam Said after the game that he would have been fuming if they had blown a 12-0 lead against a team they have a great Rivalry with over the Years but said 2-2 away against a Team who are Top of the Table was not a bad result,He also said he was impressed with the way Tristan played pointing out you will never see anyone throw a straighter Boule, the last point he made was that the Knights needed some big results to decide the destiny of their Season.

The Cheney Knights drew 2-2 on a Night they really should have taken all 4 points which would have put them back in the thick of the promotion chasing pack on a suprisingly dry Night in Gaddesby.Captain Sam Burdett played with Ryan Shaw and Chris Illingworth and in a tospsy-turvy game which they were unlucky to lose came out 13-12 to the bad.Vice Captain Richard Wesson who was playing with Kev Baker and this seasons whizz kid Cash Chapman had no such problems taking their game 13-6.In the Second set of games is where the controversy happend with Sams team losing 10-4,they took the lead 11-10 and looked certain winners ,then the Rose & Crown took their shots and were definatly on for 2 and a possible 3 but Chris picked his boule up before a measure could take place insuring a big argument with Chris walking off the piste, the rules do state that a player can not pick up their own boule before both Captains are happy with the points given,so Sam had no choice but to give the win to the Houghton on the Hill Pub.Richards team was very much same as before as they stormed to a 13-5 win meaning the points were shared.Captain Sam said after the game that he was not going to say anything about individual players and what happens next with his own second game will stay very much ‘In House’,he did go on to praise Richards Team who all played very well and with 4 games left every point in now very important from now until the end of the season.

The Cheney Knights pulled a 4-0 win out of the bag just when they most needed it on a hot Night in Hoby. The match started off with what looked like both games were going to be big wins for the Cheney,Captain Sam Burdett playing as ever with Ryan Shaw and Chris Illingworth took a 9-2 lead, then it all went to pot as the Ringers got 5 in 2 cosecutive ends to from nowhere take a 12-9 lead, the Knights however kept their nerve to take the game 13-12 on a very tense last end when the Hoby team could not beat the Cheneys last Boule with 5 attempts.Vice Captain Richard who was playing with Kev Baker and Cash Chapman also took a 8-1 lead but let it slip to 8-7 but they kept on the path to take their game 13-7.In the second set of games Sams team had an air about them that they were going to win and were not going to let what happened in the first game happen again and although it did get tense at the end a 13-10 result was asurred,Richards game was pretty routine and some good Petanque was played as they came out 13-7 winners with the highlight being Cash falling over backwards over a plantpot although he came out unharmed.Captain Sam said after the game that although they should never let a Team back into it the way they did in the first game he was pleased his own 3 kept their nerve to win the game,he said he was also impressed with Chris’s shooting and Ryans pointing and also said that Cash is turning into a really good player,he also said that the Season is now coming to the Buisness end and the Knights need more results like this.

The Cheney Knights nightmare patch continued but it was a improvement on the game the Week before on a hot and sticky Night in Houghton on the Hill.Captain Sam Burdett who was with his normal 2 of Ryan Shaw and Chris Illingworth started off brightly enough and it was a even game til both teams got to the 8 mark and then the OBH LADP took the game 13-8,On the other side acting Vice Captain Kev Baker who was with debutant Dave Whait and Cash Chapman had to come back from quite a Big margin but still lost by the same scoreline as Sams team.In the second set of games Sams team were unlucky every end and got a 13-0 thrashing,Kevs Team came back from death 12-2 down with all Three Cheney players up for the fight to take the game 13-12.Captain Sam said after the match that it is a hard pitch to play on as it has a massive sideways tilt and his pitch was at the top so was really steep and considering only himself Kev and Dave had played there before maybe this is not a massive shock,as the Home team know the pitch,he also said that due to te last two Weeks results The Knights are in a relagation dogfight but have a game in hand and need to start WINNING as soon as possible.
