For the sixth Half Marathon in 2005 a decision was taken to hold the race in the late afternoon. The view was that this would both avoid the heat of the day and allow entrants to have some family time before the event. The late afternoon start drew an increased field of 207 starters and it was felt that this revised start time had proved a hit with the competitors.
As in previous years John Skevington helped with teh timing and results system. Jeff Bodycott worked tirelessly work behind the scenes ensuring that all ran smoothly on the day.
We received sponsorship from The Melton Building Society and from Masterfoods – money which covered the costs of the event. This meant that funds raised from entries and activities on the day went directly to Rainbows. Entries and the raffle raised over £2,100 with some runners collecting sponsorship for their efforts.
One of our entrants was Ken Wright of Derby who, aged 69, completed his 99th Half Marathon in a time of 2:07:05. He ran in his 100th Half Marathon the following weekend.
There was no Gaddesby 10km race in 2005.

Mark Chamberlain won the race in a time of 1:14:39. Beth Eburne of Hinckley RC set the women’s course record of 1:24:42.
