Ash Wednesday, February 13: An opportunity to mark the start of Lent,
7.30 pm at St Andrew’s, Twyford — Holy Communion & Ashing.
Susan Leighton invites us all to this very special service. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence. Ash Wednesday is named after the custom (since the Middle Ages) of being marked in ash with the sign of the cross on the forehead. Accordingly during this service there will be an opportunity for you to receive in this way. It is not compulsory and a fuller explanation will be given during the service.
Similar services are taking place at the same time at Hoby and Pickwell.
